That looks like some pretty rowdy lobes on that there camshaft

Maybe some of the bits ended up in the filter?

Also, is that a 4-bolt main Ford Racing aftermarket block?

Mike, You maybe found the reason to pull the engine. That crud had to have negatively affected cooling! Have you any idea what the crud is? Kinda looks like some kind of stop-leak?
