Hi all, as we all know we don't get any younger, only older, and getting old SUCKS, but it sure as hell beats the Alternative.....so, with that said, if I knew it was going to take 13 years to finish my build I would have put an (OH NO! DIRTY WORD) Automatic transmission in the car. So, I have a 1966 StreetBeasts AC Cobra kit with a 1989 5.0 (302) and a Tremec T5 tranny. I want to convert an automatic with the least headaches and cost, soooooooo, GO, tell me what to look for, please???????????? O} O} O} O}

Earl,

Who, me? Encourage someone to use an automatic? Really? ~~(::

One place to start might be here: http://www.cjponyparts.com/performance- ... p/PA99502/

It's for an AOD (not AOD-E!)

Wellllllllllllllllllllll, it is "DONE", I now have a Ford C6 automatic transmission.......still have "BUGS" to work out but it is in and the driveshaft has been shortened........I'm working on a plan to use the old 5 speed shift handle so it will still "LOOK" like a standard shift, hmmmmm, sneaky, LOL!!! Working on a few other minor things that never got finished and hopefully once the weather cools down from "Nuclear" to "Melting" I can get some miles on the lovely lady, it's a shame it's been done a year and only has like 25 miles on her. ~~(/) ~~(/) ~~(/) ~~(/) ~~(/)

Earl,

Welcome to the C6 club ..]

The Cobra and the Z each have one - when built by Carl Rossler up in O-HI-O they are truly bulletproof.

I hope you have a low number axle - the Cobra has a 2.88 and the Z a 2.75. If not, your top speed will be, um, disappointing...

Also I hope you've put in a trans cooler. Don't ask how I know this.

I'm hoping to run at Daytona again in August if the SCCA has another track day. You could bring your Cobra to spectate or participate.

Glad you're still at it; I was beginning to wonder :ymapplause:
