Yeah! Little bit of hatchet work, some superglue, and it’ll be good to go.

How astute of them. ..]

Well....

I'm stripping the body:

After that, it goes to Ken for glass work. Then to Visual FX for paint. Then back here for reassembly. I'd love to see it all done before Christmas (in the spirit of full disclosure, I'm not saying which Christmas...)

OK Mike, I see what you mean about attachments. One day when I'm not as prone to creating havoc, I'll see about fixing that ~~(/)

Mike,

I understand about patina. Here's a photo of my car from circa 1952:

Nice Tom, clearly this must have been well before your current obsession with oversized motors...love the hand painted race stripe...you need to switch your meatball numbers to 4...:-)

The car is about ready for glass. This is what it looks like now:

It looks sleeker with all the stuff off. Maybe it should go to Bonneville before I put all the stuff back? I'm sure I can remember which pedal does what...

Update today.

Ken did a spectacular fiberglass repair job (the painter said "he's goood") and the car has been at VisualFX for paint.

I was asked in today to see it and, coincidentally to make a "progress payment", which I did.

It looks all doorless, hoodless and trunkless, and is sort of a smooth off white all over.

I got the all the weatherstrip so I could order new stuff. I went with Steele peel/stick in the same dimensions as it was before, 1/2 x 1/4 round.

Paint is going to be the same red/white. I hope the Ford Laser Red (E9) comes out as nicely as the first body did. There was some discussion about the bright white stripe, but I had no code for it. Possibly a wee bit of pearl may be added to the stripe...

The body prep guy said the clear was so loose that he easily got it all off with a razor blade :-? It is now block sanded (whatever that means?) and may go into paint next week.

Still in the drum roll,

Tom

I'm pretty sure if you ask them they can do a "spray out" for you. It's where they mix a small amount of paint and spray a 5x9 card so you can see the color in the sun.
