I did the modification that you showed me. I did an autocross and a test and tune session, so about 12 hard runs and NO MESS or smoke. Before the mod, I was getting a big puff of smoke on a hard right hander at the FIRM.

If anyone is wondering. Ford power steering pumps have that big wide filler neck and the cap doesn't really seal. Add the fact that on a small block they sit at about a 15 degree angle, they will puke fluid when driving hard. It makes a mess on the valve cover and header and scares you with a puff of smoke on the track. The solution is to get a 8" long piece of 2-1/4" rigid fuel filler hose (rubber with wire in it) and a couple of hose clamps. Cut the filler neck half way down. Put the fuel filler on the pump, then put the piece of filler neck with the cap into the top of the hose and clamp it down. I put a little Right Stuff sealer on just to be sure.
