"Finally I found people who know what they are talking about."

Stefan,

You may want to hold that comment until we/I actually resolve some or all of your issues...:-)

A quick update for you Avalanche... spent several hours today with Stefan and his beautiful brand new 10 year old Superformance. ..]

We went through the carb and basically attempted to set everything back to "as delivered" configuration. Put in a brand new 4.5 power valve to replace the plug his mechanic had installed. The original 79 jets were nowhere to be found in Stefan's box-o-parts, so we couldn't replace the 75's that were installed by his mechanic. Vacuum secondaries don't appear to be functioning properly, but we never got that far in the troubleshooting cycle trying to figure out why his motor doesn't run well from idle through transition.

Opened up the MSD distributor and found quite a bit of oxidation on the cap and rotor terminals. Beyond that, the magnetic pickup module and the upper bearing housing are heavily rusted, so we pretty much decided the distributor needs to be replaced for the second time. Apparently the PO replaced it once during his ownership. I'll need to talk to KC racing engines to figure out the proper carb and curve settings for that motor, since we don't know what other changes the PO may have made.

That's about it for now, stay tuned for part two. :W:

Btw, Stefan is a great guy. I've got to get his car running right so we can get him out and start driving with us now that the cooler weather is coming. ..]

Thank you so much Mike to get the Cobra back on the road.
It runs so much better!! Wow, it took 3 years to get to know the right club and people!
We'll see what part 2 will bring up.

Again thanks,
Stefan

Glad it all worked out Stefan. That thing is a beast, you're really going to enjoy it now... ..]

Too bad you couldn't join us for the ride, it was perfect cobra driving weather and the route we took was one of my favorites. We drove along the river on SR13, drove through Tomoko State Park and stopped for lunch at the Turtle Shack at Flagler Beach. Nice group of folks. Larry was visiting from GA and had his grandson Dawson with him. Dennis, Chris, Ken and Nicole, and me of course. Pics below.

Nice pictures. While it looks like I am hard at work in the trunk, the car did fine. However the wind was blowing my Granddaughter,s hair all in her eyes and I remembered I had a piece of 1/4" stretchy cord in the emg. Tool pouch. Made a nice "hippy" head band and off we went.
Great road trip. I'll have to try to find the path again someday. Should be good even if I get lost. Lol
