Ceramic coating

Post by mooreken »

Mike, here is the company that I used to coat my headers.

Pro-Tec Powder Coating
6662 Columbia Park Dr. S. #2
Jacksonville, Fl 32258
904-363-2064

It is real close to Philips and Greenland Rd. off Greenland.

FWIW, there's an outfit local to St Augustine that I may try. They have two locations, one on US-1 and the other on Dobbs Rd where they do the actual ceramic and powder coating.

I called them yesterday and they were very responsive to my inquiry. The price and turn-around time they quoted seems reasonable, so dropping the parts off on Monday and hope to have them back sometime the following week.

They're also going to weld an O2 bung onto one of the collectors, so I can run an AFR meter. Ordered an AEM AFR gauge kit with wideband O2 (LSU4.9), which should arrive this week, so I'll be ready to start serious carb tuning a few weeks from now.

Think I'm going to go with satin titanium finish. Posting "before" pictures and will post the "after" shots once done.

Mike,

Clearly engine porn :-c

Craig did the headers for the Zephyr. Three times: long story, not his fault.

The work was good and the price competitive.

I don't know how they have held up; haven't seen them since they were installed :))

Are yours stainless? They kinda look like it.

Ha ha...never overlook an opportunity to provide engine porn pics...:-)

I vaguely remember that sordid tale related to the Zephyr's exhaust system, but forgot who did the ceramic coat. Thanks for the mention.

Mine are mild steel, not stainless.

Tom, not being very fluent in Ford engines and associated PNs, what header gaskets should I be on the lookout for?

Ford installation pdf says E3TZ-9448-A Exhaust Manifold Gasket – available at your Ford dealer.

Mike,

You axin' me about small block parts? No idea...

I use the Victor Reinz on my two cars, but don't know if that's good for the small block.

Wade's gone, sadly. He would have got the call from me. I guess the next in line might be Herb or Scott. I can give you numbers if you want to call either or both.

Oh yeah, forgot you have size issues...something about "if it matters what gear you're in" ...;-)

Thx, I'm sure I can figure it out.
