Scenic drives

Post by spl310 »

What are your favorite scenic roadways to drive on? I'm wanting to take some drives in my Datsun, and would rather have a scenic drive than a boring one.

Sidney,

Kinda depends on how far you'd like to go...

Once in a while we go to Orange City to have a genuine Philly Cheesesteak at LaSpada's.

Another favorite is to go south on A1A past Flagler Beach and just after North Peninsula State Park take a right onto Highbridge Road, cross the Intracoastal and then a left onto Old Dixie Hwy which brings you to a nice tree-lined drive past Bulow Creek State Park and Tomoka State Park down to Daytona Beach. This one is just scenic - no amenities until you get to Daytona.

Another one is CR13 which goes from FL207 up to Jacksonville right along the east bank of the St Johns.

That's all I got at the moment.

Thanks Tom, that helps. World Golf Parkway from US 1 to I-95 is a nice road as well. I've been talking with some other sports car enthusiasts about a drive then stopping for some barbeque. If I get it figured out, I'll post it here for anyone that wants to join as well!

Sidney,

Woodpeckers on CR13 (see above) is a good BBQ restaurant.

That was the plan - to stop there for lunch. I'm going to take a drive and scout out the potential route, and figure the time to have us end up there for lunch. Then after that either continuing the drive or going our separate ways. My wife's best friend's former husband used to do a BBQ run with his buddies, and I like that idea. I'd like to do something like that once a month or so when the weather is good.

We took 206 east to 207 and jumped onto 13 for a nice drive along the St John’s River.

I'm thinking about a Saturday Barbeque run on April 20th. What I am thinking about is meeting up at the Publix at the corner of SR13 and Racetrack road at around 9:15-9:30am, driving for an hour and a half or so ending up at Woodpeckers for lunch. After lunch, I will continue to the cruise in at PDQ in Fruit Cove. I have picked out a route that drives some nice back roads - no highways other than a short run on US 1. Is anyone interested?

Interested yes, but Saturdays are rarely a good day for me, so I’ll have to pass…
