I like it! May be better than the Koul tools. Or maybe not.

If I try it I think I'll wear a stout glove instead of just some tats...

EDIT: Is that stainless covered tubing? Or is it braided nylon?

It looks like nylon braided to me Tom, which still has some metal strands in it. Nice hack though.
