According to the latest NOAA web site info ( http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml?5-daynl ), Matthew may come right through here as a major hurricane sometime early Friday morning.
If it does, there may not be much left :(
We will keep watching the projected path, and at the moment plan to evacuate Thursday. Maybe Saturday or Sunday we might return to see what remains. If you are as close to the beach as we are, or even if not, you might consider doing the same.
Good luck to everyone - and hope for the best!

Re: Uh, oh...
Well, here we are at Mike's (AKA BlackSnake). Halfway through the storm - it's about even with Daytona Beach and we are hoping for the best. Also, we are hoping everyone else is OK too.

We're back in our house - everything seems OK. We even have water & electricity!
A few limbs (well, lots of oak limbs) are all over the place. If you need exercise, tomorrow's the day and here is the place ;-)
In all, we were very lucky,
Tom & Kay
PS: Hope everyone was as lucky as we were ..]

Re: Uh, oh...
Glad all went good for you. Not a lot of damage here and no one was hurt. Most of all No damage to the cobra.
Only a couple of trees and fence.

Re: Uh, oh...
Ken,
Glad you, yours and you Cobra are OK!
From your picture it's easy to guess the soil around here is sand...
Here's the remains of one branch that fell onto my driveway - luckily all the cars were inside or at Mike's: And one broken one that hasn't come down yet: The left side of the house was impassable, looking like the pile in the front yard - and that was after I sawed it up into six or eight pieces and Kay and I hauled them to the side so we could get the cars in.
I won't have to guess what I'll be doing for the next few days...
I hope everyone else near you was equally or more lucky.

Re: Uh, oh...
My wife is a little up set. We grew these two trees from acorns she brought back from her home in WVa.
Re: Uh, oh...
Ken,
Maybe I could come up with Kay's 4-wheel drive and we could rope them and pull them back upright?

Thanks for the offer...but I think that firewood is in their future.
We can get more acorns.
